Led by Rick Stevens, this team identifies emerging approaches that may advance the training, evaluation, or usage of scientific foundation models. Example foci include testing data generation techniques for enhancing reasoning capabilities on non-textual data sources such as images or time-series data; researching techniques for quantifying the causal representation or worldview within model embedding layers; and testing of new model architectures and techniques.
